One of the things which often amazes me as a Coach and Hypnotherapist is that some people I start working with often say "I feel so stressed but do not understand why". But when we look deeper into their life, where their heart, focus and energy is invested we soon realise why the person is feeling stressed.
They work long hours, do not take time out for lunch, do not eat properly or get enough sleep. They do not emotionally invest into their relationships or themselves. They are on the treadmill of life, looking forward but with no destination. They are so caught up in the busyness of live they have forgotten how to truly live. When I ask about their hobbies they laugh and say I don't have time or energy to focus on hobbies. They are simply blind to what they are creating.
IS THIS YOU?
Are you walking endlessly on the treadmill of life? Do you spend your time just walking straight ahead but no idea where you are going and wonder why you are feeling unhappy and stressed?
Ask yourself how long can you continue like this for? Something has to give, and sadly it's often your health or relationships which will suffer now and in the long-term.
Take time out each day and just be. Focus on your breathing. Find a park to sit in at lunch. Before you get out of bed spend 5 to 10 minutes just being and think of your intentions for the day.
My clients are often confused when I say the more you slow down the more successful and happy you will be!
I tell them that I know from first hand experience. When I first arrived in London (many moons ago!) from the shores of Australia I was living a hectic and manic lifestyle. I lived the motto work hard and play hard. Worked hard during the day, often taking a quick lunch break. Finished late in the evening and then go out drinking with friends, co-workers or suppliers. This was fun at first, but soon it took it's toll on my emotional and physically well-being.
I started feeling stressed, anxious, wasn't sleeping and started to get unwell.
I HAD TO WAKE UP!
It took me a while to realise that I created the stress and anxiety in my life. I changed industries but it didn't help. My heart wasn't in what I wanted to do. So I once again hid behind a busy work life and hectic social life.
I then realised I had a choice to make. Either continue to follow this treadmill of life or get off change directions and walk my own path. Fast forward to here today and I am in the position I am to work with people through hypnotherapy and life coaching because I made a conscious decision to change my direction and follow my heart.
In order for me to achieve what I have today, in my personal and professional life I had to make choices and decisions and to be honest some of those choices where difficult to make as it felt uncomfortable stepping out of my comfort zone and stop hiding and fully embrace who I am.

When my clients start to slow down and experience more happiness and more success they get it. Life is not about being in the fast lane or on a treadmill that goes in one direction. Life is about following your heart, your wisdom and joy. From this place true happiness and success just naturally flows into their life.

We live in a world full of distractions and disconnections. Distractions by work load, stress, anxiety, fears, social media, facebook, drugs and alcohol. Through these constant distractions we disconnect from others, and sadly from ourselves.
We forget how to listen to the wisdom of our heart. Many just plod along in life, unhappy, lonely, lost and asleep. This sense of stuckness impacts their emotional and physically well being and also their relationships with others and themselves.
So often we go along with other peoples agendas that we forget our own agenda and path in life. Happiness is searched for in material items, holidays, food, clothes, cars and drugs. Many put a timeline on happiness. When I get in a relationship, change jobs, buy designer shoes, go on a holiday then I will be happy. They forget happiness is actually there waiting for them in this precise moment in time but their hearts are closed off to it.
Happiness is always here but many do not give themselves permission to experience and to truly live it. They are so caught up in what is "wrong" in their life and world the forget to see what is beautiful, right and joyful in their life now.
I want to share this quote with you.
"In a world full of front page news, fast tracked careers, designer clothing and tragic sports results, you have to remember what is real!" Robert Holden.
I love this quote and it really puts things into perspective. What is real is you, your life, your relationships and your happiness. That is what is important and fundamental to living a joyful, successful and happy life.
We live in a manic society, everything is rushed, everyone is rushed. We use technology to build and maintain friendships. Facebook is not life. We share the good bits but hide the rest as we disconnect further and further from our friends and families.
Two weeks ago I decided to close my facebook account for one month. Now, when I want to speak to a friend I call them, or if they live locally meet up face to face. Its much more real. I allowed myself to get caught up by this manic disconnected society and in a sense we are hypnotise to just to along with it.
Now is the time to wake up. Wake up to how you are hiding in your life. Wake up that to get to where we are going we need to slow down. Wake up and remember what is real and also that happiness doesn't have a timeline connected to it - it's here waiting for you now along with the wisdom of your heart.

Thoughts are simply a formless energy which flow through our minds. They are not real, and they certainly do not hold any substance. Yet, many of us accept our thoughts as reality. We create a dance allowing our thoughts to lead and then resisting - being dragged away by our thoughts and pulling back. We place so much energy allowing our thoughts to lead and then use up other further energy dealing the effects of this - anxiety, stress, depression and so on.
I wanted to share something which happened to me this week.
I was driving from home to Glastonbury for my Monday appointments, I had back to back appointments up until about 3.30 when I then had a break. I am very blessed to live in a beautiful part of England - surrounded by fields, open space, deep soft green grass and due to the constant rain beautiful wild flowers!
On this particular morning I was enjoying the drive feeling calm and relaxed when a farm tractor pulled out in front of me, and as tractors do it started to drive very slow. I was stuck behind the tractor for about 15 minutes. Due to the traffic coming towards me I wasn't able to overtake. Thoughts were louds and clear - I am going to be late for my first appointment, it's going to be a stressful day etc. My body reacted to these thoughts with agitation at the tractor in front of me, and started feeling stressed and anxious..
I then took a deep breathe - and woke up. Woke up to the fact that I had lost connection with myself and the peace within me and surrounding me by responding to these thoughts. It was my choice to do that. Everything else around me was the same, it was my perception of the what was happening that caused me to create stress and anxiety within me.
My energy was being used to project what may or may not happen in the future. We do not have control to what happens around us, and I certainly wasn't able to control the tractor in front of me! But I have a choice on how I respond - I can react with stress or anxiety or I can create further peace in my mind by changing my perspective.
The only situation that had changed was a tractor was driving slow and my thoughts projected into the future and create scenarios which I invested my internal energy into. After I woke up to the fact on how my thoughts were "dancing" in my mind and causing a racket - I realised I had a choice to what happens next. I could continue to get stressed and agitated OR I could change my perception to what was happened and return back to being present and connected to the NOW.
I choose being present and connected to the now. I wanted to share this with you today to show you how easy it is to change our perception of life and how we respond to thoughts. We can't always control what we think but we have a choice on how we respond.
Remember also that we are human, and at times we may get caught up on these thoughts - and that's okay - use your self awareness to see what is really happening and then decide how you wish proceed and respond. You have that choice.
Many clients I work with struggle with their thoughts and allow them to dictate their life. I'm stupid, I'm hopeless, I am going to be anxious in that meeting, I am going to blush when I give my presentation. Their thoughts create their reality. It doesn't have to be that way.
