Do your expectations of how things should be stop you from enjoying life?
Do you wait for everything to be perfect before you truly live?
I want to share my story on how in the worst weather conditions we created a magical day of love, fun and memories.
I went away for my partner's birthday a few weeks ago to beautiful Devon. On the Sunday we planned to spend the day at watersmeet. It's a truly magical place. Hill walking, flowing rivers and an abundance of waterfalls.
When we arrived at watersmeet it was raining. A lot. I was disappointed because I had planned the weekend for John. I wanted it to be prefect and we came all this way (3 hour car journey). To make matters worse I had forgotten my walking gear and water proofs and didn't fancy getting wet! We talked about what we should do then decided to go home as the weather was just awful. We got in the car and were about to travel home.
We stopped, looked at each other and realised what we were doing. We were leaving without seeing how it would be. We let our thoughts get in the way. What if it's cold. What if I get wet. Then we decided just to go for it. We got very wet! It rained for most of the day.
But we had the most magical day! Walking in the rain. Sitting watching the rivers flow. Visiting al the waterfalls. Exploring the surrounding hills. Getting very wet. We would have missed out on this magical day if we were put off by the rain and the thought of getting wet.
How often do you put things off in life? What thoughts or stories do you create to support you in avoiding life.
We often come up against things in life which do not meet our expectations or hopes. The lesson is just flow it with for you never know what you may receive or the memories you may create.
