I love the phrase bubble of happiness - because in a way this is what happiness is - floating happily along until we meet face to face, we dance with it and when the time is right, the bubble will continue on it's journey.
I remember a time when I searched for happiness, in racks of clothes in a department stores, being with unsuitable partners looking for love, in a wine glass, in a bar of chocolate, aiming for goals I didn't even want - to make others proud of me. I searched for happiness by always giving presents to people, always extra nice to others, smiles, with never a frown - always putting others first.
When I gave it wasn't truly from heart - it was on the condition that the person would like or love me, or the friendship would continue. But that wasn't me, I lost myself in the search for my own bubbles of happiness.
After a journey of healing and personal growth some years ago (and in some ways I am still on a path of personal growth) I discovered my beautiful inner self - and that everything I need is within me to be happy, to dance with happiness as it flows into my life, but not to get too attached to it and when it leaves I am okay with that too.
Now, when I give, the intention is from within my heart - without any expectations, rewards or judgements.
What does happiness mean to you? Do you long for it on a lonely night? Are you afraid it will not find you or are you always happy? Do you use material things and gadgets to search for your bubbles of happiness?
I will be back later to discuss more about happiness, but I offer you some space to take time out and really think about happiness and what it means to you, and who are you without happiness and with happiness?
What do you want?
A good job? A happy relationship? Lots of friends? Holidays? Nice clothes? Eating at nice restaurants? Drive a nice car? Be your own boss? Feeling more at peace within yourself? Connecting more to nature? Having a sense of who you are?
Is this what you want - or are you meeting others expectations for your own happiness?
Please do share your thoughts by adding them to the comments section below - I would love to hear them!
