Let me start of by asking you some questions:
So in order to be successful they sacrifice their personal well-being and happiness, they work long hours, have little sleep, eat unhealthily and have no time for themselves of their families.
Not all successful business people think this way.
Have you noticed that some successful people go through life calmly and relaxed regardless of what is happening to them, or around them, or others thrive in the face of chaos? They have a good balance between work and personal life and they are happy.
They still experience a certain level of stress but because of their perception, thoughts and response to stress, it does not impact them on an emotional or physically level.
Stress operates on two levels. The first level is thoughts. Worrying about what is happening to you or an event in the future creates stressful thoughts which leads down the second level - how your body responds to the stressful thoughts.
This cycle of thoughts and how you body reacts to the thoughts is known as the "fight" or "flight" response which is an innate intelligence.
Stress was useful to our ancient ancestors as it protected them from threats from other tribes or animals. In our modern day life when your unconscious mind perceives a "threat" (e;g. your boss yelling at you, or high demands and pressure from your job) it kicks starts the innate intelligence letting you know it's time to "fight" or "flight".
A message from stress
So in essence the level of stress you experience is simply a message from yourself that something isn't right and needs to change. Much like a warning light on your car - if it goes unchecked it can cause serious damage.
Listen to your body and what it needs. Take time out when you need to, eat well and look after yourself.
